    Meet Abundant Living Gallery

With a name like Abundant Living Gallery, many might walk in expecting paintings and nothing more — but they couldn't be more wrong.

"We're so much more than wall paintings,"

the business' owner, Pam Riley, said. "We have pottery, jewelry, wine glasses, chocolates — everything but the funnel cakes at an art fair."

In fact, art fairs and the items sold there are exactly what inspired Riley to open Abundant Living Gallery in November 2013 at the corner of Elm and First streets in Wyandotte.

A longtime lover of art fairs, Riley said she truly was ready to open her own business after she found herself driving to Novi to buy a piece of copper art as a gift for her son.

"I thought, 'Why should anyone have to drive that far?'" she said.

Riley settled on opening in Wyandotte because it seemed like the right fit as it's an artistic community with one of the largest street art fairs in the state.

Though Abundant Living is nowhere near as large as a street art fair, the storefront has more than 40 artists on display including Nancy Knapp, a locally-known pastel artist; Laurie Mata, a painted glassware artist; and John Marchello, who creates stunning bracelets from forks and spoons.

And with so many artists, the interior of Abundant Living is jam-packed with a large variety of gifts and art pieces while also offering small items like shower therapy tabs, which emit essential oils in the steam.

Michigan-themed gifts line the store as well with glassware, towels, coasters and even Boblo-related knick knacks.

Many items in the store can be customized, too. Since Riley works directly with artists, custom work requests can be made easily. For example, if a piece is too small, Riley can contact the artist to request a larger version. Even custom paintings can be commissioned, depending on the creator.

Though Abundant Living has a large roster, Riley said she's always looking for new and different artists.

"I think it's important to keep things fresh," she said.

More than anything, Riley aims to keep Abundant Living a casual and friendly atmosphere.

    Abundant Living Gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. It's closed on Sundays and Mondays.

The business may be reached at 734-556-3033. For more information visit abundantlivinggallery.com
